• The Starting XI averages 15 caps and seven in official competition. The lineup has an average age of 25 years,75 days.
• Midfielder Sebastian Berhalter, defender Alex Freeman and goalkeeper Matt Freese all earn their first caps in official competition. Midfielder Jack McGlynn also collects his first start in official competition.
• On Father’s Day: like Father, like Son: Sebastian Berhalter will earn his competitive debut in the Bay Area just like his father Gregg did. Gregg Berhalter collected his first cap in official competition in the USA’s 3-0 win against Cuba in the opening match of the Concacaf Gold Cup on Feb. 1, 1998 at Oakland Coliseum.
• With his appearance today, veteran defender Tim Ream holds the longest tenure for Gold Cup appearances among USMNT players. Ream made his confederation championship debut against Canada on June 7, 2011 in Detroit. Ream’s Gold Cup tenure of 14 years outpaces that of DaMarcus Beasley, who appeared in Gold Cup matches over 13 years, between 2002 and 2015.
• Captaining the USMNT tonight, Ream is the lone starter with Gold Cup experience.
• Midfielder Diego Luna starts just minutes from his hometown of Sunnyvale, Calif. and at the home of the San Jose Earthquakes, where he came up in the club’s academy. Hailing from Fresno, defender Max Arfsten also returns to San Jose, where he began his professional career with Earthquakes II in 2022. 
• Having earned his first cap last Saturday against Türkiye, Matt Freese becomes the ninth USMNT goalkeeper to earn their competitive debut in the Gold Cup. He follows Marcus Hahnemann (2005), Troy Perkins (2009), Luis Robles (2009), Nick Rimando (2013), Sean Johnson (2013), Bill Hamid (2017), Zack Steffen (2019) and Matt Turner (2021).
• A member of the 2022 FIFA World Cup squad, midfielder Luca de la Torre makes his first start in official competition since Nov. 20, 2023 at Trinidad and Tobago in the Concacaf Nations League.
• Midfielder Malik Tillman makes his first start in official competition since March 21, 2024 against Jamaica in the Concacaf Nations League semifinal.
• Chris Richards makes his 14th appearance in official competition for the United States tonight. He has now appeared in World Cup Qualifying, Copa America, Concacaf Nations Leagueand the Concacaf Gold Cup.
• Striker Patrick Agyemang leads the USMNT with three goals in five appearances during 2025.
• In accordance with the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup Tournament Regulations, teams are permitted to dress 23 players. The three players not dressed tonight are Tyler Adams, Johnny Cardoso and Damion Downs.
• The USMNT is 22W-4L-4D in 30 all-time matches against Trinidad and Tobago. The USA has a perfect 5W-0L-0D record against the Soca Warriors in the Concacaf Gold Cup.
