EUGENE, Ore. – CJ Singleton earned All-American honors in the 3,000m steeplechase while Jadin O’Brien and Alaina Brady kicked off their first of two days of competition in the heptathlon on Friday at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Jadin O’Brien and Alaina Brady both got out to strong starts in the heptathlon competition on Friday. O’Brien posted the best 100m hurdle time among the 24 competitors with a 13.33 for 1075 points. Brady had the second-fastest time in the event with a season-best 13.41 effort for 1063 points. O’Brien then cleared 1.69m in the high jump for her best mark of the season to earn 842 points. Brady, meanwhile, tied her career-best high jump performance with a 1.66m effort for 806 points. In the shot put, O’Brien led the field with a 14.44m performance to add 823 points to her total. Brady continued to have a strong day with a personal-best showing in the shot put with a 13.89m to finish third overall and earn 787 points.
In the gap between the shot put and the 200m run for the heptathlon, CJ Singleton competed in the 3,000m steeplechase final. Singleton ran a season-best 8:28.93 to place ninth and earn Second Team All-American honors.
O’Brien and Brady wrapped up competition for the Irish in the evening with the 200m run for the heptathlon. O’Brien posted a time of 24.11 for 970 points. Brady capped off the day by running a 25.33 for 857 points.

Through four events, Jadin O’Brien is in the lead in the heptathlon competition by a margin of 25 points with a 3710. Brady, who had either a season-best or personal-best in three of the four events of the day, tallied 3513 points and is in sixth. Day two of events begins on Saturday at 3:30 pm PDT (6:30 pm EDT) with the long jump. The javelin is set to start at 4:45 pm PDT (7:45 pm EDT), and the competition concludes with the 800m run at 7:43 pm PDT (10:43 pm EDT).
