Ricki Lake Rocks Slinky LBD and Towering Heels for Rare Public Outing amid Weight Loss Journey

Ricki Lake is embracing her figure in glam style.

The former talk show host was spotted out and about in New York City on June 10 and wore a fashionable look for her day on the town.

The actress, 56, wore a stylish all-black look with a few funky pieces for added flair. Lake wore a slinky black maxi dress with a V-neckline that allowed her to show off a hint of cleavage.

Lake paired the dress, which hugged her figure, with a black leather bomber jacket that she wore open for a cool-girl touch. The fun continued with Lake’s footwear: She wore velvet peep-toe platform heels that featured a dainty star print in shades of blue, yellow, red and orange.

The Hairspray actress styled her silver hair in loose waves towards the front of her face and pinned the back of her hair to complete the style. Lake’s eye makeup matched the black tones in her outfit, but she kept the rest of her makeup soft, opting for rosy tones on her cheeks and lips.

Lake’s day in New York City marks the first time she’s been photographed publicly in months amid her weight loss journey. She is, however, very active on social media and posts frequently on Instagram.

The last time she was formally photographed was in November 2024 during a conversation for End Well 2024, a series of events held by non-profit organization End Well, which seeks to have open discussions about death, caregiving, grief and loss for individuals navigating those events.

Lake’s last public event before End Well 2024 came in June of that year, when she attended the BirthFUND inaugural fundraiser luncheon, which aimed to raise funds for families in need of midwife care.

The talk show host has been candid about her weight loss journey and revealed in 2024 that she, as well as her husband, Ross Burningham, each lost over 30 pounds since October 2023.

“I really want to share, because we did this without relying on a pharmaceutical. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.) But neither of us were prediabetic and both of us felt like we wanted to at least try and do it on our own,” she wrote on Instagram in February 2024.

Lake also spoke exclusively with PEOPLE in May of 2024 about her weight loss journey, and revealed that she’s never felt better since focusing on her fitness.

“It’s so funny that because when you’re in your 50s, you’re supposed to be going sort of down, it’s all downhill from here,” she told PEOPLE from the Community Access Gala in New York City. “I feel the opposite, I feel the healthiest I’ve ever felt, the fittest and I have a beautiful partner that I share my life with. I pinch myself every day.”

She added, “I worked hard. I look back at my life and the ups and the downs and there’s certainly been a ripple. But I don’t come from a handout, I don’t come from money. I really have forged ahead and taken risks and it’s all worked out.”

More recently, Lake opened up about losing her home to the Los Angeles wildfires this year — she has since moved to New York City and has framed it as “choosing my own adventure.”
