New Zealand’s white-ball team will tour India for eight games in January 2026, including three ODIs and five T20Is.

India and New Zealand last played each other in the Champions Trophy

New Zealand’s white-ball team is all set to visit India for an eight-match tour in January 2026, according to a report in The Times of India. They last toured India in the second half of last year, but just for a red-ball series, which they ended up winning by a 3-0 margin in a ruthless fashion.

The reports says that the tour might begin on Sunday, January 11 and includes three ODIs and five T20Is.

New Zealand have an all-format series scheduled against the Windies to close out 2025 as part of their home season, after which they will tour India.

The white-ball games against New Zealand will serve as preparation for the visitors and the hosts during the build-up to the T20 World Cup, scheduled to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka during February-March next year.

India, who will presumably be led by Suryakumar Yadav in the marquee event, have games lined up with South Africa and Australia towards the end of this year as part of the road to the tournament.

India and New Zealand faced each other in the Champions Trophy final earlier this year in Dubai, a clash that Rohit Sharma’s men won to lift their second ICC title in nine months.

India became the first-ever three-time winners of the Champions Trophy, while New Zealand’s wait for a white-ball title in ICC tournaments continued.

The Kiwis last visited India for a white-ball series in early 2023, where they played three T20Is and as many ODIs.

New Zealand had a rough time in India as they were thrashed 0-3 in the ODI series and gave away a 1-0 lead in the T20I series to lose 2-1.

New Zealand’s sole victory over India in the entire tour was a 21-run win in the first T20I in Ranchi.

New Zealand have a dismal white-ball record against India in recent times. They have won just one out of the last eight T20Is against them, while they have lost seven consecutive ODIs as well.
