Palmer Lake trustees appoint new mayor following Glant Havenar’s resignation

PALMER LAKE, Colo. (KKTV) – In a vote on Thursday night, the Palmer Lake Board of Trustees voted to appoint Dennis Stern as interim mayor.

This vote followed former Mayor Glant Havenar’s decision to step down on June 4. Havenar was serving her second term as mayor.

Stern was appointed to finish out the rest of Havenar’s term as mayor.

Stern is Mayor Pro Tem and a Trustee for Palmer Lake. He is also serving on the Pikes Peak Regional Building Advisory Board as well as in a liaison role for the Parks and Trails Commission.

In Thursday’s meeting that began at 6 p.m., the Board of Trustees could have either appointed a new mayor or set an election.

As of Thursday evening, Havenar had not given 11 News a reason for her resignation.
