His association with WWE has garnered good box office revenue for the sports entertainment capital, but his reputation has been badly affected. This was after he played a key role in John Cena’s heel turn on the Road to WrestleMania 41, only to eject himself out of the entire storyline.

There was some buzz before and during the Money in the Bank show surrounding Rock’s potential return, but that did not happen. But his next appearance has been unveiled.

The Rock to Attend UFC Hall of Fame Ceremony for Mark Kerr’s Induction

A fictional account of Mark Kerr’s life will be explored in a feature film. The movie, titled The Smashing Machine, is set for an October release. Therefore, it is fitting that Kerr was announced as the final entrant in the UFC Hall of Fame class of 2025 and that Johnson will attend the ceremony, as he portrays Kerr in the motion picture.

During Saturday’s UFC 316, announcer Jon Anik revealed Johnson, a member of WWE and UFC’s parent company, TKO’s board, would be present on Thursday, June 26th, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, for Kerr’s induction. Vitor Belfort, Robbie Lawler, Craig Piligian, and Amanda Nunes are the other names in this year’s class.

Kerr will be inducted as the 21st member of the Pioneer Era wing, which honors fighters who turned pro before November 17, 2000, who are 35 years of age, and who have been retired for a year or more. The MMA legend is also the heavyweight tournament winner of both UFC 14 and UFC 15.

Benny Safdie and Johnson’s collaboration has evidently worked wonders for Kerr’s biopic, as the feature film’s trailer has garnered a lot of attention. Johnson has already received praise for what looks to be his best acting effort to date. The film comes out in theaters on Friday, October 3rd. Johnson plays Kerr, while Emily Blunt plays his girlfriend, Dawn Staples.

Rock claimed that the plan was always for him to step into the shadows while Cena continued to work with Cody Rhodes. He also admitted that the only reason he was part of it was to give a boost to ticket sales, further evoking the ire of fans. Nevertheless, The Rock acknowledged Cena, stating that The Last Real Champion has surpassed him. He also added that “The Final Boss” character can always pop up at any point.
