Kentucky football coach Mark Stoops addresses the Wildcats’ need for consistency and is excited to see continuity with his players.

  • Vince Marrow was UK coach Mark Stoops’ longest-tenured assistant. Marrow had been part of every Wildcats coaching staff since Stoops’ first season in Lexington in 2013.
  • Louisville football chief of staff Greg Brohm’s bio on the program’s offical website lists him as handling “all general manager duties for the program. Marrow would be Brohm’s first GM.

Numerous programs have tried to lure away Vince Marrow over the years. But Jeff Brohm and Louisville football seem to have finally convinced Marrow to leave Mark Stoops’ Kentucky program after 12 seasons.

According to ESPN senior college football writer Pete Thamel, Marrow will become the general manager of the U of L football program, overseeing roster management, recruiting and the transfer portal. Thamel reported Marrow was expected to sign a three-year deal with the Cardinals.

Louisville football chief of staff Greg Brohm’s bio on the program’s offical website lists him as handling “all general manager duties for the program, including staff oversight, operational planning, external affairs, roster management, self-scout, game management, and strategic decision-making.” No other general manager of the football program had previously been named during Brohm’s three years as coach.

Marrow has been part of every Wildcats coaching staff since Stoops’ first season in Lexington in 2013.

Stoops’ longest-tenured assistant, he’s served in a variety of roles for Kentucky: associate head coach, tight ends coach, recruiting coordinator and NFL liaison. Barely six months ago, Marrow had been approached by Louisville about joining the staff before deciding to remain at UK. Marrow also turned down an opportunity with Michigan State in 2020. And in 2015, he spurned Michigan.

Just before the 2024 season began, UK’s Office of Legal Counsel posted a contract extension for Marrow. The new contract took him through the 2026 season, with the agreement terminating June 30, 2027. Per the terms of Marrow’s contract, he was earning $1.3 million annually at UK.

Prior to his departure for U of L, Marrow had been the second-highest-paid assistant on Stoops’ staff behind defensive coordinator Brad White, who makes $1.7 million.
