On Sunday’s episode of the Mind the Game podcast, James made a captivating announcement about his two sons, Bronny and Bryce, after losing in the first round of the postseason with the third-seeded Los Angeles Lakers.

“From Bronny growing up to where he is now and Bryce on his way to Tucson to Arizona, I’ve never got involved,” James said. “I’ve never went to a practice and sat through practice the whole time to see how my son was being utilized. I never got on the phone with the coaches.”

“Listen, he’s there to coach my son, coach him however you want to. And I think you need to hold him accountable. I hope you hold him more accountable than any other kid here, and say what the (expletive) you need to say, no matter how it’s being said.”

James’ sons likely appreciate their father’s willingness to remain in his lane. Attempting to overstep and dictate how Bronny and Bryce should be coached would only negatively affect their development.

The 40-year-old Los Angeles Lakers forward will always support his sons and provide advice when necessary. However, James understands that he would be doing them a disservice by behaving selfishly as a parent.

The four-time NBA champion will allow JJ Redick to mentor Bronny with the Lakers and Tommy Lloyd to mentor Bryce at Arizona, which is a recipe for success for the James clan.
