Ejection, injuries reported in Florence crash involving 18-wheeler

FLORENCE, S.C. (WPDE) — “Significant injuries” and ejection are reported after a collision Monday, according to Lt. A. B. Fox with the West Florence Fire Department.

Fox said it involved a passenger vehicle and an 18-wheeler and happened on I-95 southbound near the 163 mile marker.

Engine 241 and Ladder 214 were dispatched at 5:54 a.m. in response to a vehicle that rear-ended an 18-wheeler and overturned.

While on the way, officials said units were told one person may have been ejected from the vehicle, and a second person was reportedly trapped inside the overturned vehicle.

Emergency crews from Florence County EMS, South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Florence County Sheriff’s Office are currently on scene managing this active incident.

Southbound lanes of I-95 in the area of the 163 mile marker are currently closed.

Officials said you’re urged to use caution and use alternate routes.
