Luis de la Fuente talks Pedri and Lamine Yamal ahead of Nations League final

Spain boss Luis de le Fuente has been talking about Barcelona stars Pedri and Lamine Yamal ahead of Sunday’s Nations League final against Portugal.

Both players were on target in the semi-final win over France, with Yamal stealing the show after putting on another masterclass.

De la Fuente says the 17-year-old is not getting carried away by his recent success and remains pretty relaxed about life.

“He’s special, but you’d be surprised by the calm with which he handles all of this,” he told his pre-match press conference.

“That normalcy makes him special. We support him in his development. His maturity is beyond his years. He handles it normally,”

There were also some words of praise for Pedri, with De la Fuente explaining how he wants the midfielder to play for the national team.

“Pedri has a special talent, a 8, a 10… I like him to play closer to the box,” he added.

“Goals are scored near the box. Key passes, too. He contributes a lot to us there. Because he has the final passes, he completes plays, he’s improved a lot with his shooting.”

The two Barca stars look set to start again on Sunday and will hope to lift another title before going away for a well-deserved break.
