As Matheus Cunha left for Manchester United and Rayan Ait-Nouri closes in on his Man City move, Vitor Pereira will be desperate to avoid losing his captain.

Wolves have placed a contract on Semedo’s table, generously offering the 31-year-old a four-year deal that would keep him at Molineux till 2029.

But as it stands, the Old Gold have been left in limbo over whether he will be at the club next season, with Semedo deciding his Wolves future.

Nelson Semedo wants ‘time’ to decide his Wolves future

Time is running out for the Portuguese international to commit his future to the club, and unfortunately, there is no urgency on his part to resolve the problem.

Speaking after Portugal’s Nations League win over Germany, Semedo said via Record: “I’m focused on the national team, which is the most important thing. Then I’ll have time to eventually think and decide what’s best for me and my family.”

Considering he’s only weeks away from departing on a free transfer, Wolves fans will feel a sense of frustration towards the defender, who is leaving everyone in the dark regarding his future.

That is possibly because the former Barcelona star is holding out for the right move. Semedo would like a return to Benfica, but his big wages appear to be the problem there, while Galatasaray have shown an interest in Semedo.

It’s understandably a huge decision for the Wolves skipper to make, and that is why it’s taking so long, but he’s preventing his side from knowing where they stand.

Wolves are already looking for a Semedo replacement

There is perhaps an acceptance that their captain will leave once his contract expires. Semedo has already filmed his goodbye video in preparation, which suggests he’s swaying more towards an exit.

Also, the fact that he’s taking so long to decide is pretty ominous, as he should already know if he wants to stay at Wolves by this point.

It appears, though, Pereira is planning for life without the right-back. Wolves have been linked with Sunderland’s Trai Hume, though the 23-year-old wants to stay at the Stadium of Light.

Kyle Walker-Peters is also available on a free transfer, and he’d arguably be the perfect replacement for the Portuguese international.

Losing Semedo, however, would be a huge blow, but as it stands, preparing for that eventuality would show they’re being proactive.
