Pierce The Veil’s “Selfish Machines” Lands Gold Certification In The United States

Pierce The Veil have earned yet another industry accolade, with their 2010 sophomore album “Selfish Machines” having just gone gold in the United States. That’s the fourth certification to be handed down to the multi-platinum emo/post-hardcore band this year, with their track “Bulls In The Bronx” going platinum on January 17th of this year, alongside “Circles“, “Hell Above” and “Hold On Till May” (feat. Lindsey Stamey) all going gold.

The group’s current tally has them at 5 platinum singles, one of which, “King For A Day“, is 2x multi-platinum. They’ve also notched up two gold-certified albums and three gold singles to date.

A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
