NY Yankees, Mets: What’s ahead following first Subway Series matchup

After the Yankees took two out of three in the first Subway Series in 2025, what can they and the Mets expect before their July rematch.

The start of the Mets and Rays’ second game of their series on Saturday afternoon has been delayed due to rain at Citi Field.

The game is now tentatively scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

The Rays grabbed the opening game of the series on Friday night, using a six-run sixth inning to storm away with a 7-5 victory over the Mets. In the process, the Mets saw their six-game win streak snapped.

With the Mets looking to bounce back, Tylor Megill is scheduled to take the mound for the team. Megill is 5-4 with a 3.76 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 84 strikeouts in 64⅔ innings and 13 starts this season. The right-hander secured the win last time out on June 8 against the Rockies, allowing two earned runs in five innings with five strikeouts.

Right-hander Drew Rasmussen is slated to make the start for the Rays. Rasmussen has been one of his team’s most dependable arms, notching a 5-4 record with a 2.22 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 59 strikeouts across 69 innings.
