On Thursday, a conciliation meeting between Font and current Barça sporting director Deco took place after Font publicly suggested Deco had personally offered the Brazilian striker to the club before formally taking charge.

Font claimed that Deco was involved in the Vitor Roque deal even before officially becoming sporting director.

“Deco offered Vitor Roque while Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff were still handling sporting matters. Then they left, and Deco’s first move was that same transfer,” said Font.
These remarks did not sit well with Deco, who strongly denied the allegations and decided to initiate legal proceedings.

The purpose of the meeting was to offer Font the chance to retract his comments. However, he made it clear he has no intention of doing so.

In a statement released after the session, Font said: “Obviously, I have nothing to rectify and, therefore, the conciliation has been useless.”
Font further criticised the lack of transparency surrounding the deal for Roque. He believes the figures and details of the transfer remain unclear and continue to raise questions among club members.
“It would be good if the efforts used to intimidate those asking questions were instead focused on explaining to the owners of the club – the members – how certain decisions were made,” he added.
With Font refusing to withdraw his remarks, Deco is now expected to move ahead with a lawsuit.

“If the club or Deco himself offered an explanation with total transparency and details, perhaps the speculation would end.
“But the club closes in on the sidelines, and the information is conspicuous by its absence. In this and many other cases.
“When I told all this in an interview and asked for transparency to avoid misunderstandings or speculation, Deco’s response was to summon me to a conciliation, which was held today, so that I would retract my statements.
“It would be good if the efforts that are invested in trying to intimidate those who ask for explanations were destined, precisely, to explain to the owners of the club, who are still the members, those operations that may generate doubts.
“We will continue to defend the right of members to give us the information we deserve,” he added.
