The Blue Jays (38-32) had been on a tear, winning 12 of 14 games entering the series, but have now dropped back-to-back games for the first time since late May.

Max Kepler hit a solo homer off of Chad Green in the eighth inning to drive the Phillies past the Blue Jays 3-2 Saturday.

Blue Jays starting pitcher Bowden Francis was steady on the mound until the fourth inning, when things went sideways as he walked Nick Castellanos and Kepler, and beaned J.T. Realmuto to load the bases. He then walked Bryson Stott to bring in a run and hit Otto Kemp to give the Phillies a 2-1 lead.

“Just felt like (I) got out of rhythm,” Francis told reporters after the game. “Kind of lost feel. And then it just kind of snowballed.”

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had two hits, including an RBI double in the fifth inning that tied it.

Berrios (2-2, 3.38 ERA) has given up only one run over his past three starts but has just one win to show for it. He pitched 6.2 scoreless innings in a no-decision last Monday as the Blue Jays fell behind late and came back to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 5-4 in the 10th.

The 31-year-old held the Phillies to one run, a solo homer to Castellanos, on four hits with two walks and five strikeouts over six innings on June 4.

Will Robertson is also set to make his MLB debut after getting promoted earlier this week. Robertson was hitting .288/.410/.582 with 12 home runs and a .991 OPS over 51 games in Triple-A this season.

Philadelphia will counter with all-star ace Zack Wheeler. The right-hander holds a 6-2 record and 2.85 ERA with four wins in his past six starts.

The Blue Jays avoided Wheeler when the Phillies rolled through town earlier this month as he left the team to be with his wife, who gave birth to their fourth child.

The Phillies (41-29) have four wins in their past five games.

After Sunday’s series finale, the Blue Jays return home to host the Arizona Diamondbacks for a three-game set starting Tuesday.
