Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for parts of our area

(WPDE) — 4 P.M. SUNDAY UPDATE: The Watch has been canceled, and the threat of severe weather has ended. Head here for your latest forecast.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Florence, Robeson, Williamsburg, Dillon, Marion, Horry, and Georgetown Counties until 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Main hazards include damaging wind gusts and hail up to quarter-size.

Tornadic activity is not expected, but an isolated, brief tornado isn’t impossible.

A broken line of showers and storms is moving through the Pee Dee and Border Belt, making their way from west to east through the area this afternoon.

The showers and storms should be fully offshore by 5 p.m. Sunday. The severe threat ends once this main line moves through.
