Monster Hunter Wilds Weapon Patches Drop, But Gamers Want More Than Merch

Looking like two Pokemon and, in addition, gamers are more or less not happy. The confirmation for the collaboration with N2 Apparel to sell weapon-themed patches for pre-orders came from a tweet posted by the Official Monster Hunter Twitter account. Then came the flurry of responses demanding fixes to the game itself, urgent patches for all games, and a port of Rise to Switch 2. Oof.

Very slick-looking patches come from the many weapon kingdoms of Monster Hunter. Longswords, Insect Glaives, Switch Axes-those kinds of weapon. They are available to preorder from the N2 Apparel site, but here’s the question: players are not just talking about the merch. Nope, they are airing a set of grievances like a Monster Hunter-type outfit.

Let’s start with price complaints. BigZombieMonkey bluntly said that it was crazy to charge £27 for each patch. One could buy an indie game or a very nice T-shirt for the same price. Eric Wolfie chuckled and added that it was too much for a patch even in the US. GrimaceTheGrey said most PVC Velcro-type patches are priced high at $5 to $7; what is the special case here? Capcom and N2 Apparel might want to revisit those numbers.

The real problem is gamers using the release of these merch to basically shout out a laundry list of other things they want to be fixed. Performance issues on PC? Check. Demand to get rid of Denuvo? Double check. Then Tayzed shared a gruesome story about ordering a shirt through N2 Apparel that never arrived. Yikes. Then there’s the Switch 2 crowd, with DeaditeDerek39 and getonthestiix pleading for Rise to be updated on Nintendo’s next console. Like, the thing isn’t even an official topic yet, and they’re thirsty.

Now comes the wrong patches group of BiddyR4090 and PGN_X35 who were basically saying, “Great patches, but where’s the real update?” You know, the one that nerfs HBG and LBG recoil, or brings Elders back into the game. SageTreacherous even joked about a “patch for removing Denuvo,” which… admittedly same.

So yeah, the weapon patches are cool, but Capcom might want to read the room. Gamers are clearly more interested in actual game updates than merch at the moment. And with Wilds still in the near future, maybe the devs could take a few notes- fix the performance, tweak the weapons, and then sell us the patches. Just a thought.

In the meantime, if you want to pick these up for yourself, hit up the N2 Apparel site. Make sure you keep an eye on your order status if Tayzed’s experience is anything to go off of. Or maybe just wait for a sale. Because £27 for a patch? That’s a steep hunt.
