Friday’s high temperature hit the mid to high 70s, depending on where you are on Long Island, with a low around 61.

“Temperatures will be closer to normal today being on the cool side of the boundary, with highs ranging from the middle 70s to around 80,” the forecast says.

Overnight, showers and a possible storm is predicted between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. Saturday, with more showers likely through noon. Then, the weather service said, more showers are predicted after 2 p.m.

Saturday night, there is a 30% chance of light rain, the weather service said. The high will be a cool 67 and there is an 80% chance of precipitation.

There will be a “moderate” amount of fine particulate pollutants in the air across Long Island on Saturday, the U.S. Air Quality Index forecast Friday afternoon. That comes after a week in which there were some days in which the local air was considered “unhealthy for sensitive groups” due to smoke from Canadian wildfires or ozone.

“Moderate” is the second of six increasingly hazardous categories of air quality.

Anyone who might be “unusually sensitive” to the fine particulates, should reduce the duration and intensity of outdoor activities.
