‘FUBAR’ Star Shares the Most Rigorous Stunt He’s Had to Perform for the Arnold Schwarzenegger Action Comedy

The Governator is officially back with Season 2 of his hit action comedy series, FUBAR. Hailing from Reacher‘s Nick Santora, the Arnold Schwarzenegger Netflix title has centered on the aging Luke Brunner and his daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro), who, initially unbeknownst to each other, are both CIA agents and are later forced to team up, bringing their dysfunctional family dynamic to the workplace. They’re not alone in their high-octane adventures, though. Travis Van Winkle and Fortune Feimster have starred in both seasons as the pair’s teammates, and each of them has had their chance to shine with some daring action sequences. For the former, one stunt in particular stands out above the rest as the most “intense” moment to film.

In the latest episode of Screen Rant’s Debunking AI YouTube series, Van Winkle countered a few of the AI assistant’s assertions about his time filming FUBAR. In one instance, the AI claimed that he found a few scenes where his CIA operative, Aldon, had to be shirtless to be some of the most challenging to shoot and required the most preparation. However, while the Transformers and Friday the 13th star did find those moments to require more time and effort than others, he largely disagreed. Instead, he recalled a moment where he “had to do an underwater stunt and hold my breath for just under a minute… multiple times in a row. That was pretty intense.” As the Mission: Impossible movies have shown, underwater sequences can at times be some of the trickiest, most exhausting, and most dangerous to pull off, and Van Winkle experienced that firsthand on a smaller scale.

Season 1 of FUBAR had its fair share of intense moments that the cast was eager to take part in. The train sequence from Episode 3 has been commonly singled out as one of the biggest challenges for a few reasons. Danger runs high for Luke and Emma as the latter crawls across the top of a speeding locomotive using a magnetic vest to keep her connected to her father within the train. Schwarzenegger was even required to film upside down for parts of the production to capture the high-stakes scene. While speaking to Tudum back in 2023, Feimster said that even those who weren’t directly involved in the most difficult physical challenges were tested by the emotional intensity of the scene. “Because the stakes were so high, they had to keep being like, ‘The world’s going to explode!’ Keeping that intensity for hours was definitely challenging for me.”

What Happens in ‘FUBAR’ Season 2?

Though it hasn’t been out for long, Season 2 has managed to best its predecessor in the eyes of critics with higher stakes, more action, and a deadly dance with a big new star in The Matrix‘s Carrie-Anne Moss. After Luke and Emma are burned at the end of Season 1, the father-daughter duo, alongside their team and loved ones, are forced to live together in witness protection to avoid retaliation from the international criminals they’ve stopped. They still find themselves in danger, however, when Luke’s old flame, Greta (Moss), suddenly reappears and “threatens to destroy the world… if she doesn’t destroy his life first.” Everyone’s forced to spring into action once again with plenty of comedy and a reinforced cast also including Milan Carter, Fabiana Udenio, Andy Buckley, Jay Baruchel, Scott Thompson, Adam Pally, Tom Arnold, and Barbara Eve Harris.
