‘Mister Miracle’ Animated Series Coming From Warner & DC With Tom King

Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios are taking the next step on their animated journey with a TV version of the Mister Miracle comic book series.

Tom King, who wrote the Mister Miracle comics with Mitch Gerads, is showrunning and EPing this one, which is in production although network remains TBD. The show comes after James Gunn’s Creature Commandos, which is currently in production on its second season for HBO Max. No details were given on voice cast.

Mister Miracle, which Warner said will tell the “odyssey” of main character Scott Free aka Mister Miracle, is based on the critically acclaimed and Eisner Award-winning 12-issue comic book series.

“No prison can hold him,” says the logline. “No trap can contain him. He is Scott Free, the worldwide celebrity sensation known as Mister Miracle, and he is the greatest escape artist who ever lived. But can he pull off the ultimate trick – and escape death itself?”

Logline goes on to say the show begins with “something gone horribly wrong with the perfect life that Scott and his warrior wife Big Barda have built for themselves on Earth.”

King is currently also in production on HBO’s Lanterns TV series.

The news was unveiled at Annecy, where animated versions of major IP has been big business. Yesterday, a packed crowd was shown early designs and footage of Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, the first animated series in the franchise. Later, the BBC unveiled an animated version of Doctor Who for pre-school kids.
