I watch the NBA Finals. Call me crazy. I must be one of the nine people out there doing so. And if you’re not among the eight others joining me, you should be. That’s, of course, assuming you not only like watching basketball but also enjoy catching a glimpse of a hot girl when the opportunity presents itself.
What’s the other option? A mid-June snoozefest between the Pirates and Rockies with cameras panning to a middle-aged woman, who hasn’t seen a treadmill or a salon in a decade, shoveling nachos into her mouth between 3rd inning pitches?

Nah. Gimmie the hoops and the hottie.
Enter Megan McConnell, sister of Pacers guard T.J. McConnell. Megan’s currently a rookie for the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury and she’s been the best thing about the NBA Finals not named Haliburton or SGA. Technically, SGA’s not really a name, but you get it. And Megan’s working with All-Star level stuff.
She somehow managed to fly under the radar until T.J. wore her Mercury jersey into the arena ahead of Indiana’s first game with Oklahoma City. Playing at the powerhouse that is Duquesne, then going undrafted (she eventually signed as a free agent) might have something to do with that.
But now, she’s arrived, and she clearly has staying power.

Last week, Megan McConnell took a page out of brother T.J.’s book and wore his Pacers jersey while on the Mercury sideline. She’s currently out of action with an injured knee and after Phoenix’s game on Wednesday, the team doesn’t play again until Sunday. That would seem to at least present the possibility for an injured Megan to be on hand for Friday’s Game 4 at Indiana’s Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
PHOENIX, AZ – JUNE 5: Megan McConnell #16 of the Phoenix Mercury wears her brothers TJ McConnell Pacers jersey during the game against the Golden State Valkyries on June 5, 2025 at Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Now, to be fair, I have no idea if the WNBA’s Mercury follows the Urban Meyer/Jacksonville rule book of allowing team members and coaches to travel separately with off days looming. But maybe we can speak it into existence. The Finals need Megan McConnell in the stands. Besides, she’s injured. There’s really no reason to occupy a spot on the Phoenix sideline when you could be single-handedly increasing NBA Finals ratings with one or two zooms from the camera coming in and out of a commercial break.
Through two Finals games, T.J. is averaging 10.5 points and three assists in 16 minutes per game. So one way or another, there’s going to be a McConnell to watch.
