Spectrum News NY1 will host a debate among the leading Democratic candidates for mayor this week ahead of the city’s primary elections.

The debate will be held Thursday, June 12. It will air at 7 p.m.
Viewers will also be able to watch for free on Spectrum News NY1’s digital platforms.
The candidates participating in the mayoral debate will be former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Queens Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani, City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, City Comptroller Brad Lander, former City Comptroller Scott Stringer, Brooklyn state Sen. Zellnor Myrie and political newcomer Whitney Tilson.

In a random selection process Thursday morning, NY1 political director Bob Hardt revealed the order in which the candidates will speak, beginning with Stringer, then Myrie, Tilson, Adams, Lander, Mamdani and ending with Cuomo.
Candidates who opted into the city’s public matching funds program and meet eligibility criteria are required to take part in Spectrum News NY1’s debate, according to the city’s Campaign Finance Board.
Spectrum News NY1 is partnering with WNYC/Gothamist, THE CITY, New York Law School’s Center for New York City and State Law, the Museum of the City of New York, the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY and John Jay College of Criminal Justice to produce and publicize the debates.

Spectrum News NY1 will open its website and app for viewers to watch the debate for free. For Spectrum nonsubscribers, download the Spectrum News app, available to Android and iPhone users, then tap “Live” on the menu bar at the bottom of the screen to view the debate.

Early voting will be held from Saturday, June 14 through Sunday, June 22. Election Day for the June primary is Tuesday, June 24.
