Hamby has been a total revelation. She’s averaging nearly 18.1 points, over 7.6 rebounds, and about 3.7 assists per game while doing a little bit of everything. She shoots over 50 percent from the floor and her rebounding keeps possessions alive. Plus, her defense disrupts passing lanes and sets the tone for the team. In back-to-back games on June 8 and 9, she scored 20 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and dished out five assists at home against Golden State. That was her second straight 20-point game and her fourth this season. Hamby has always been a hustler, but this year she’s really stepped up as one of the team’s key leaders.

Plum has taken charge of the Sparks’ offense with control and intensity. She’s putting up over 21.8 points and 5.4 assists per game, and defenses have to adjust to her relentless drives and quick shooting. She exploded for 37 points in the season opener against Golden State on May 16 and followed that up with 27 points, five assists, three rebounds, and four steals on the road against Atlanta on May 27. She’s not just scoring, she’s running the show on the floor, controlling the pace, and making smart plays when it counts.

What makes this duo so special is their chemistry. In the May 25 game against Chicago, where the Sparks finally broke a three-game losing streak, Plum hit six threes and scored 28 points. Hamby added 10 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and a career-high six steals. That game really showed how they balance each other out, Plum pushing the pace and Hamby reading the floor perfectly.

Even in tough losses, Hamby and Plum have been the ones helping keep the team competitive. Against Phoenix on May 21, Plum scored 25 points and handed out six assists while Hamby added 15 points and seven rebounds in a close 89–86 loss. And in the June 9 overtime loss to Golden State, Plum had 24 points and seven assists and Hamby put up 20 points and nine rebounds. Through every challenge, they’ve been steady forces the Sparks can rely on.

Their styles don’t just complement each other, they fit together like puzzle pieces. Plum draws defenders with her driving and shooting, and Hamby knows exactly when to cut, pop out, or find the open shot. They trust each other’s instincts and timing, making the Sparks offense work even when the rest of the team is struggling to find rhythm. Plus, there’s a balance between them, Plum brings the fire and isn’t afraid to speak up on the court, while Hamby keeps things grounded with her calm presence.

The Sparks are sitting at 3–7 right now, still searching for consistency, but five of their seven losses have been by single digits. While the whole team works to put it all together, Hamby and Plum’s connection is one of the brightest spots, and one the Sparks can build around moving forward. In a league full of star-studded superteams, sometimes two players can make all the difference.
