Madea is back for a hilarious new wedding-themed comedy.
On Monday, June 9, Netflix debuted the first trailer for Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Destination Wedding, which sees Tyler Perry’s iconic character return for sun, sand and plenty of matrimonial chaos.
The movie sees Madea and her family flying off to the Bahamas for her grandniece’s nuptials, which start to feel rushed and suspicious to the family matriarch.

Written and directed by Perry, 55, and filmed partially on location in the Bahamas, Madea’s Destination Wedding also stars Diamond White, Taja V. Simpson, Xavier Smalls, Cassi Davis, Tamela Mann, David Mann and Jermaine Harris.
This marks the second Madea film to be released in creative partnership with Netflix following 2022’s A Madea Homecoming. It also comes amid the 20th anniversary of the Madea movie franchise, which launched with 2005’s Diary of a Mad Black Woman.

In terms of what audiences can expect with Madea’s latest outing, Perry told PEOPLE the film’s tropical setting will certainly shake things up.
“Audiences have enjoyed watching Madea in hilariously entertaining scenarios as the family’s matriarch, but now she’s a fish out of water on vacation,” he said.
“There was a lot more fun and ridiculousness to play with in this Bahamas setting. A family vacation with Madea at the helm also invites audiences to laugh together and feel like they’re along for the journey.”
