Oxford United goalkeeper Simon Eastwood extends contract

The 35-year-old goalkeeper, who turns 36 later this month, previously signed a deal with the U’s in August 2023, and has made 288 appearances for the club since joining from Blackburn Rovers in June 2016.

He was omitted though from United’s Sky Bet Championship squad list last season, and therefore didn’t feature in any games, with his last appearance coming in the 1-1 draw at home against Reading in February 2024.

Eastwood though continues to play an important role within the goalkeeping department, including with the club’s younger keepers.

Announcing his new deal, Eastwood posted on social media: “Delighted to have extended my contract at Oxford United for another season, which will take me into my 10th season at the club.

“I am extremely grateful to continue to be part of the team and goalkeeping department.”

Eastwood started his career with Huddersfield Town, where he had loan spells at Woking and Bradford City.

He then joined the U’s in the summer of 2010 but left after one season to sign for FC Halifax Town and then Portsmouth.
