Playing styles and prediction

Although Nakashima has made strides in his ranking over the past year, the American has had a difficult season so far. However, the American now returns to his favourite surface and will be hoping for a change in results as he targets a place in the world’s top 30 over the next few weeks.

Fearnley will be aggressive on return and will look to come into the net as much as possible to finish off points efficiently. Meanwhile the serve will be key for Nakashima as he looks to neutralise Fearnley’s return and use the dropshot to catch the Brit off-guard. This will be a difficult first match on the grass for Fearnley but the Brit should have enough confidence and quality to score another big victory.

Prediction: Fearnley in three sets.
