The Guardians managed to salvage the series finale against the Astros and now welcome the Cincinnati Reds to town for a three game series.

Nicole has your recap for a nice outing from Tanner Bibee (who seems to have figured things out), a good game from Bo Naylor at the plate, and another typical dominant performance from Cade Smith and Emmanuel Clase to close things out. Oh, also, Jose’s on-base streak is at 34 games, 50 shy of Ted Williams MLB-record of 84.
Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com had a couple great notes on Jose’s accomplishments:
Just thinking about José Ramírez’s greatness, as I often do:

The team finally admitted Jhonkensy Noel needed some time in Columbus and brought up Johnathan Rodriguez. It is pretty hard for me to understand how this move wasn’t made two weeks ago, but oh well. Stephen Vogt had the usual positive spin on the demotion (I do not say this with sarcasm, I am also positive about letting Noel try to find it in Columbus).
The Guardians must sweep the Reds to retain the coveted Ohio Cup. In all seriousness, I am just hoping they help erase the memory of that EMBARRASSING sweep in Cincinnati, by far the low point of the season in my view.
Paul Hoynes offered some notes: Lane Thomas received injections for his plantar fascitis, and is expected to head to another rehab assignment soon. Shane Bieber is confident that his soreness is a temporary setback after talking to Dr. Meister. Austin Hedges is feeling better from his concussion too, so that’s good.

The Tigers, Twins and Royals all won. Drat.
