According to Sgt. Michael Schumacher with Portage Public Safety, a man described as unhoused entered the store with the BB gun, which he had just purchased at the nearby Dunham’s Sports store.
He then proceeded to unbox it in view of other customers, prompting the restaurant manager to move everyone in the restaurant to another room as police were contacted.
Sgt. Schumacher said no one was injured and the gun was sitting in the man’s lap, which he never brandished.
