Both of them are part of the Project Kennan initiative that includes thorough development into newer gaming consoles, making them handheld-friendly and reducing the complexity of the Windows platform.

Bigger batteries for longer play
The Xbox Ally packs a 60Wh battery, 50% more than the original ROG Ally.
The Xbox Ally X boasts an 80Wh battery, currently the largest in any handheld gaming device.
Docking and external GPU support
Both models can be docked to Asus’ XG Mobile, which houses an RTX 5090 laptop GPU, enabling desktop-grade gaming performance when stationary.
Availability
The two ROG Xbox Ally handhelds are set to launch during the 2025 holiday season. Microsoft and Asus will announce pricing and preorder details in the coming months.
