Paul Pogba now sends one-word message to Rayan Cherki after he says Man City move is ‘getting done’

Rayan Cherki has a strong case for being considered France’s most naturally talented young midfielder since Paul Pogba.

While both Frenchmen are different players, what they share in common is impeccable technique, a unique eye for a pass and the ability to turn any game on its head at the drop of a hat.

Another similarity between them is that the biggest move in Pogba’s career was signing for Manchester United in 2016 and almost a decade later, his countryman Cherki confirmed his imminent move to Manchester City by admitting it is “getting done.”

Interestingly, Pogba could have joined Manchester City as well after leaving United but considering his time at Old Trafford was polarising, the 21-year-old will be hoping to become a bona fide success at the Etihad Stadium.

However, Rayan Cherki could have a better chance than the World Cup winner at succeeding in Manchester as City have proven to be a much more stable club than the Red Devils for over a decade.

Pep Guardiola has held talks with Cherki, which goes to show how highly the Sky Blues rate the Lyon midfielder.

As the youngster dazzled for France in their 5-4 loss against Spain, Pogba gave City fans another reason to be excited about his impending arrival by commenting “pheno (colloquial word for phenomenon in French) followed by ‘clapping’ and ‘fire’ emojis on the French national team’s Instagram post.

Considering Pogba has played with plenty of wondrous young players, from Paulo Dybala to Kylian Mbappe, his verdict backs up why Manchester City love Cherki.

Mbappe has always admired Cherki as a player, as it seems like some of the biggest names in the game always knew he was destined to reach the top.

Mbappe lauded Cherki once again as his endorsement alongside Pogba’s is proof that Manchester City are on the verge of signing a potential superstar.

The French captain said: “We tried to support him as best we could so that he felt like himself and did what he did on the pitch.”

“His qualities are obvious, we knew it, we never doubted it. He will bring us what he needs. Now, everything starts with his head, we wanted him to feel good so that his feet speak for themselves.”
