Materialists stars Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal, and Chris Evans‘ onscreen chemistry have been the talk of the town, and now fans got a glimpse of the trio’s dynamic offscreen in a new behind-the-scenes video.

Dakota Johnson tried to playfully make Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans kiss in a BTS video of A24’s Materialists. The star-studded cast is appearing in acclaimed filmmaker Celine Song’s upcoming movie, slated to hit the theaters on June 13, 2025.

Along with trying to make the two Hollywood heartthrobs kiss, Johnson also discussed what draws her to the upcoming A24 project. The Madame Web star gushed, “Love is a universal subject. And I like that Celine has brought back this magic and nuance to romantic comedy.”

Pascal added, “Materialists is observant of how contrary following your heart and measuring worth is.” The Last of Us star’s remark refers to the trio’s love triangle in the film, where Pascal is the “rich” single guy “in love” with Johnson’s Lucy at the same time as Evans’ John.

Evans said Materialists is a “romance movie, but it reflects real life, which is complex and messy.” Johnson remarked that she likes the soul connection, pointing to Pascal and Evans and cupping their chins.

The actress then playfully urged Pascal and Evans to come forward, hopefully for a kiss, but both move backed to their seats. Evans jokingly objectEd, “no, don’t,” and Johnson said, “No, don’t stop.”

Meanwhile, the mischievous chemistry of the trio and the “almost kiss” sent social media fans to a frenzy. An X (formerly Twitter) user quipped, “Omg, they should’ve kissed. Their chemistry is so iconic.” Another echoed the sentiment, writing, “She’s so real for this.”

Additionally, in a previous interview with Elle, Pascal and Johnson reminisced over how they first met. To netizens’ surprise, the Fifty Shades of Grey star did not remember her first meeting with the Game of Thrones actor in 2014.

Pascal recalled it was the Golden Globes 2014 day, and they met at an HBO party. Johnson gushed, “That’s so crazy that I don’t remember meeting you there. It feels like something substantial happened to me that night, and I’m blocking it out.”
