Late day storms Saturday and Sunday

A typical June weekend is expected, but that comes with the threat of late-day storms. Before the storm threat, temperatures are expected to approach 90 degrees with a heat index near 100°F. Don’t cancel your plans, just be weather aware and keep your eyes on the radar through the evening.

Severe Threat for Saturday as Eastern NC is in a slight risk of severe weather(WITN)

ENC is under a level 2 risk both Saturday and Sunday. The risk spans 14 states, so the chances of everyone seeing a storm seem low. Storms like to cluster this time of year and can be hard to pinpoint where they’ll impact until they form. There’s a chance some spots in ENC could stay storm-free all weekend or just one day of storms.

Severe Threat Sunday- Slight Risk of Severe Weather(maxuser | WITN)

After a humid and warm start to the day, energy will max out through the afternoon and evening. As storms develop, they’ll quickly bring a lightning and wind threat. The best chance to see a storm will be after 5 PM, with storms usually fizzling out or moving off the coast by midnight. Not everyone may see a storm.
