Gangwon will face the Pohang Steelers in the 17th round of the K League 1 of the 2025 season at 7 p.m. on June 1 at Pohang Steelyard.
Gangwon is 4-1-4-1 formation. Gabriel stands in front. Kim Kang-guk and Kim Dong-hyun will form the midfield, while Kim Min-joon and Choi Byung-chan will play left and right midfielders. Lee Yoo-hyun will start as a defensive midfielder, while Kang Tu-ji and Shin Min-ha will work together as central defenders. Lee Ki-hyuk and Song Joon-seok will play left and right fullbacks, and Lee Kwang-yeon will protect the goal.

Pohang is a 4-3-3 formation. Giorgi stands in front. Hong Yoon-sang and Kim In-sung will play left and right strikers. Kim Dong-jin, Auberdan and Shin Kwang-hoon make up the midfield. Han Hyun-seo and Jeon Min-kwang will work together as central defenders, while Lee Tae-seok and Eo Jung-won will start as left and right fullbacks. Hwang In-jae protects the goal.
Gangwon coach Chung Kyung-ho said, “We have a schedule to and from Gwangju FC (Wonjeong), FC Anyang (home), and Pohang (Wonjeong) for a week,” adding, “I had a little physical problem, but I came back well.”
Coach Chung continued, “Pohang has been on the rise recently. You have to take at least a point. It is important not to give up the first run. There are times when the game is well-organized and collapsed in one set piece. There is also a problem that the balance is broken as it moves aggressively after losing points. I tried to improve it by communicating with the players,” he said.

Gangwon has not won away games in Pohang since May 27, 2017. Gangwon beat Pohang 2-1 on the day.
Coach Chung said, “We are breaking several jinxes this season,” adding, “We won Ulsan HD away games and the league’s first away victory in Gwangju.”
Pohang is a very strong team at home. It’s not easy to win the Pohang away game. I’ll do my best. We are ready to break the jinx,” he stressed.
