Anyang beat Gangwon FC 3-1 in the 16th round of Hana Bank K League 1 2025 away game at Songam Sports Town in Chuncheon on the 28th thanks to Mateus’ multi-goal and Mota’s net goal. Matheus is the ace of Anyang. Born in 1997, he played on the Brazilian stage of his country. He moved to Anyang last year and stepped on his first K-League stage. He led Anyang’s attack with his sharp left foot kick ability. It played a big role in Anyang’s K League 2 victory last season. He has seven goals and 11 assists in 36 games. He was honored as the league MVP, the help king, and the best 11.

Coach Yoo Byung-hoon worried about the possibility of players, including Matheus, leaving. Ahead of the match against Gangwon, he said, “I’m connected to several clubs. Mateus said, “I think I came to Anyang for the first time last year and really worked with the spirit of a challenger. I tried to adapt to the K-League stage. There is a lot more to do in the future. I want to work harder and bring more good results,” he vowed.
